I won 2nd place in the http://www.iwontcheat.com/ essay contest about what I would say 2 my favorite athlete if they were caught using illegal drugs. Now people are saying Big Papi took something illegal! I hope he didn’t do anything wrong on purpose. Maybe he just drank an energy drink or something that had something bad in it & he didn’t know it. I would be so upset if Papi cheated, I would rather lose than win by cheating. But I don’t like all the newspaper reporters writing mean columns about Papi because we don’t know what happened yet! I think he was brave to go out & play last night after the news came out about the drug tests & I respect him for that! Until someone proves he took steroids & knew he was taking them I still believe in Big Papi! I believe he will tell the team & his fans the truth about what happened!
I am 1 of 12 Red Sox Kid Nation Captains and we need your help with an awesome project to help other kids!
Under the direction of The Red Sox Foundation and through the support of HP Hood, the 12 Red Sox Kid Nation Captains will participate in sixth grade backpack-a-thon. The Kid Nation Captains are collecting items to fill backpacks for more than 3,000 kids going into middle school and some of those backpacks will be donated to kids right here in Lynn, who need them. Hood is donating the backpacks but we need to collect the items to fill them. If you are willing to have a drive where you work or at an organization you belong to please let me know. Please consider donating any of the items listed below in any quantity. Donations are tax deductible. All donations must be received prior to Aug. 15 because on Aug. 16 we will be filling the backpacks at Fenway. I just got back from Fenway. AWESOME GAME! We beat the Braves 6-5. Big Papi hit a HR & Green got a walk off HR to win it! I got to see Papelbon pitch!
View imageThe Kid Nation Captains got to go on the field for pre game ceremonies! Our seats were under cover too so we didn’t even get wet. It was so much fun & our next Kid Nation project is the one I suggested- backpacks for kids! Hood is buying the back packs but we’re gonna collect the stuff to fill them. I’m so excited!
I’m in the pre-game ceremonies on the field at Fenway today and we have a Red Sox Kid Nation Captain meeting before that! I hope it doesn’t rain! Watch for me on TV 🙂
I’m psyched Wakefield is pitching! Gotta love those knuckleballs!
Good news Dice K is going to miss at least one start! Maybe now we can stay on top in the AL East & ahead of the Yankees!
OMG! I am so excited. When we got home today I had a phone message from NE Book Fair. I won Youk’s Kids Essay Contest for April & I get an autographed Kevin Youkilis baseball & I get a chance to win lunch with Kevin Youkilis after baseball season is over. I wrote about being a Kid Nation Captain & helping other kids & blogging about the Red Sox. Now if we can just sweep the Ya—– I can’t even type the name of that other team. YUCK!
I sure wish I was gonna be at the game tonight. But I will be watching on TV. We have been to 11 games this year. And we have tickets for the game Friday night! YEAH! I think it’s awesome we set a sell out record but it’s kind of bad too for us fans that can’t go to all the games because we can’t get tickets & they cost so much. I was talking to people I know that used to go to Fenway 40 or 50 years ago. They told me lots of cool stories like you could go the day of the game and buy a ticket cheap because not many people went to the games. And you could hang out by the field and get autographs and stuff like that. Sometimes I wish it was still like that because It reminds me of how the North Shore Spirit games were. I went to almost every North Shore Spirit game for 5 years. I really miss the Spirit.
The players, people who worked there and other fans all knew my name. We could hang out by the field and get autographs when the guys were on the field and after the game. The players and managers were always so nice to us kids and treated us like we were important. We laughed, cheered and even cried together. It was like a big family. We were family because we all loved the North Shore Spirit. Sometimes when there wasn’t a Spirit game the Fraser Faithful would get together to watch Red Sox games. I miss the North Shore Spirit especially my favorite catcher Alex Trezza and still cry sometimes because the team is never coming back. Their last game was in 2007.
But I’ve been a Red Sox fan since I can remember and I’m glad I have the Red Sox and Red Sox Nation. I’m glad I am a Kid Nation Captain and part of the Red Sox Nation family. Thanks Remy, Regular Rob, Joe Chamas, PAPELBON, Schilling, Pedroia, Kid Nation Captains and the rest of my Red Sox family. You’re the best. Sometimes I don’t think people know how much the Red Sox means to us kids. It’s like family and Fenway park is like home. It’s a place we can go and have fun and be a part of a big family where everybody belongs. When you’re cheering for the Red Sox no one cares is you’re a little kid or old. It doesn’t matter how fast you can run or how smart you are. It doesn’t matter if you’re rich or poor or one of the cool kids. We just love the Red Sox so we’re family.
Now if we can just beat the Rays every game in this home stand take back the lead in the AL. I’m glad Lester is pitching. I like him and it was awesome watching him pitch a no hitter. He got cured of cancer & I hope everybody realizes how important it is to find a care for cancer so no more people die from it.
